Buying DVDs have three major drawbacks. First, they can be expensive. If you are lucky you can get one for 8 bucks, but thats only if its a really old movie. Usually DVDs are pretty expensive with new releases being as high as twenty dollars or more.
Then, you have to wait for you DVDs. Either you have to drive out to the store and pick up the movie or you have to order it online and wait for it in the mail. Both ways require more money for either gas or shipping and handling, and more time to wait. Finally, DVDs take up a lot of space. DVD cases are not small. If you have hundreds and hundreds of DVDs, you will take up a lot of shelf space. You could put all your DVDs in a CD case, but then what do you do with all the cases? Even have a huge binder of DVDs is still not convenient.
One option could be to rent the movie. The problem with this is that sometimes we really like a movie and would like to own it so that we can watch it over and over as many times as we want. Another alternative is to download the movie.
